Maybe what Will Buxton said about Piere Gasly in previous Netflix Original Series Drive to Survive 2 is the true thing. Will said "Its incredibly hard for Piere, when you line up alongside Max Verstappen, even your best day is gonna look like failure.". As we know together, Max Verstappen is a talented driver, he is fast, and he has much experience with redbull racing rather than Piere and also now for Alex Albon.
I'm sure, both Alex and Piere are talented driver too. Piere show his talent when he was moved back into Toro Rosso, he success to beat Lewis Hamilton on epic drag finish in the las lap and got P2 finish in Brazil. And also Alex Albon, as we know together, Alex almost get his first win twice, but fail in the result caused of collide with Lewis Hamilton in Brazil 2019 and Spielberg 2020. But both driver are certainly difficult when compared with Max Verstappen which has been in redbull for a long time
In 2020 season so far, Alex has a good progress in race result. his best finish so far is 4th position when he race in Redbull Ring Round-II. But the Fans notice the main problem for Alex at this time is in the qualifying time. Alex has not been able to score the maximum his best time in qualifying session, especially to beat his teammate Verstappen during the qualifying and the race.
quoted from Sky F1, Christian Horner as a team principal of Aston Martin Redbull Racing said Alex Albon need more work on saturdays. “It’s his Saturdays that he needs to work on. Sunday afternoons he is great. He’s overtaking, his pace is everything that you could expect.", said Horner to Sky F1.
Christian Horner know that Alex should find his comfortable in the car over a single lap to make a good lap time in qualifying, and he said they will help Alex to manages drive around those problem as soon as he finds that consistency and confidence. He believe when Alex already success to manage it, with the race pace he’s had, he will be knocking on the door of the podium before long.
So in my opinion, Alex Albon Need a lot of time from RedBull to fix his main problem. I think Christian Horner has learned much from Piere Gasly, he will not repeat the mistake when he promoted Piere in to Redbull Racing before which he thought was prematurely. And like Will said before, it's hard to lineup alongside Max Verstappen.
