Jehan Daruvala (His Official Twitter Account)

GEOMOTORSPORT.ID - India, the country with the second biggest population in the world, have only 2 national heroes who have been competing in Formula 1. they were Narain Karthikeyan, the first India's Formula 1 Driver who competed in years of 2005, 2011, 2012, and Karun Chandhok, the second India's Formula One Driver who competed in years of 2010 and 2011

its been 10 years till now, The country doesn't have their own driver in Formula 1. But, there is still a hope in the future for the country to have their talented driver to compete in formula one championship.

Jehan Daruvala is the only Indian drivers who compete this year in the Formula 2 championship, which is the step behind Formula 1. This year is his second years in Formula 2. He was part of The Red bull junior Academy which racing for Carlin alongside Dan Ticktum.

There are three different drivers in Formula 2 Championship under the Red Bull Academy flag, there are Jean Daruvala, Dan Ticktum, and Liam Lawson. Three of them should show their best talent off this year to be noticed and promoted into Formula One Championship, at least with Alpha Tauri like other Red bull Junior Academy such as Alexander Albon and Pierre Gasly.

In the first year of Jehan's career in Formula 2, he failed to beat his team mate, Yuki Tsunoda who was promoted into Alpha Tauri F1 this year. Jehan only scored 72 points which was 128 points below Tsunoda. Daruvala finished his first year in 12th position in the standings, while Yuki Tsundoa finished in third.

Daruvala is the young talented driver in Motorsport. He had competed in the FIA F3 Championship in 2020, and F3 Asia Championship this year. He finished both championship in third position. In F2 last year, Daruvala secure his first win during the sprint race in Bahrain Grand Prix.

Daruvala shows his exciting feeling to stay in F2 this year with Carlin in the Red Bull suits. Altought he relaize his last year performence is quite not good enaugh compared to other drivers under the Red Bull Academy.

I’m extremely excited to be staying in F2 and with Carlin for 2021. I’m extremely proud to be carrying Red Bull colours again this season and I thank Dr Marko and my sponsors for their continued support and belief in me which I will be looking to repay from the very first race.”, said Jean Daruvala.

Team Principal Trevor Carlin said he was proud with Jehan's progress and consistence last year as a rooke driver in F2, but he expect more this season.

“Jehan did a great job last season as an F2 rookie, he kept his head and kept pushing through to really show his true potential by the second half of the season. To finish the year off with a third place and then a win really confirms what we knew from the start. I expect Jehan to continue where he left off – challenging for wins from the outset in the new season.”, said Trevor Carlin.

Jehan should give all out this year to show up his best performance to Dr. Marko. At least he should beat his main rival Juri Vips and Liams Lawson to be promoted into Formula 1 seats.

Yuki Tsunoda only has a one year contract with Alpha Tauri this season, so there is a chance to replace Yuki Tsunoda next year if he performs better. But, It's too early to make a prediction, at lest we should see the first race to know his position in the competition. Only time will tell. (geomotorsport.id/George Steven Suparman).
